200 Facebook Likes

Today I’m glad to announce we’ve reached 200 likes on facebook.
Considering we’ve only started sweebe.com three months ago it’s actually quite more than we’ve expected.

Our next milestone is 500 likes. We hope to reach it towards the end of this year.

Downtime

We’re sorry but the website is down again because of yet another issue with the hosting company!

Unfortunately our hands are tied – nothing we can do about… :(

sweebe.com twice as fast

Let’s jump right in…
In the last few days we spend most of our time analysing sweebe’s codebase and trying to discover “bottlenecks”.

The good news is that we were able to speed the website quite a bit up. sweebe.com is now twice as fast!

I hope you enjoy the new speedier website :)

150 Reasons why you should put up your events on sweebe.com

Today I’d like to give you 150 reasons (actually one) why you should put up your events on sweebe.com!

As you probably know we’ve already mentioned a few times that our website is highly search engine optimized. What that means is people who are searching for events on google, bing and many others will likely end up on your event listing.

That is a great thing because we provide a lot of information in a nice and accessible manner which helps people to make their mind up and eventually choose your event to go to with their friends.

I thought a few incoming search queries from your target audience shows you nicely what you gain from putting up your events on our website!

All new Design!

What a week… Monday stared out with an internet outage which lasted for 4 full days.
Several phone calls later a technician from the phone company finally showed up and fixed it after trying to blame it on us (it turned out to be their fault).

Yes, unfortunately we couldn’t add many events but we weren’t idle either! We used most of the time redesigning the entire website!

Since we launched the website in April we felt the design wasn’t exactly what we had initially in mind. During our first development period we were using a coloful layout which was pretty much the one we used up until now. It kind of grew with the website.

Now that we have been implementing more user functions we encountered drawbacks with the old template and we decided to redo it.

Well, here it is! We hope you like it as much as we do.

Please excuse any minor issues as it’s still work in progress!

Stay tuned!

Offical WordPress Plugin now Available!

Hi Guys,

Just a few minutes ago we released the first version of the sweebe.com wordpress plugin.

Feel free to have a first look or even installing it!

It doesn’t offer massive functionality but it does what it promises :)

Stay tuned for updates and improvements!

30% Search Engine Traffic and some other news

Hello Internet,

Good news – this week we could increase our “organic” traffic originating from google, bing and other search engine to 30%.
This doesn’t sound exciting but it actually is. This type of traffic is really important as it shows how relevant the website is! :)

We’re also happy to tell you that from now on you can submit place as well as event listings! To do so simply visit following page and follow the easy instructions.

sweebe.com is making huge progress lately and we all are very excited! :)

Internet Explorer compatibility

Our hate for the “Internet Explorer” here at sweebe is extraordinary. For years and years Microsoft is continuously releasing the worst but still most popular browser out there.

Web Developers around the world are wrecking their heads, wasting time and worst of all can’t use the latest technologies because there are millions of users using a browser which has been released in August 2001… that’s right… 10 years ago!!!

Now, If there is anyone using IE…. please covert to a modern/fast/fun browser :)

Why am I not recommending Opera?! To make it short: It’s simply as bad as IE as of today :)

Nevertheless today we spend some time getting the website to work in an acceptable manner in IE8+ as about 30 percent of ours visitors still use it.

If we find some sparetime we might fix it for IE7… but it’s not on the road map at the moment.

Stay tuned!

Venues are now Places and other news

Hi Internet,

today we have a couple of news for you. First off lets begin with the facebook integration released last week. So far the system seems to be working flawlessly which means we’re ready to extend the user account part of sweebe.

In the next few days we should see the option for members to submit events/places on their own.

Yes, Places not Venues! After some through we decided to rename venues to places. Why?
Well that’s easy… because we came across a few locations that didn’t really fit the venue category and so we agreed on a more generic name.

Design wise we’ve made some changes, too. The places page now has a much tighter and more obvious google maps integration (which also has been upgraded). Colors of the entire website have been slightly improved.

Let us know what you think!

Stay tuned!
